Jawbone 2 Bluetooth Headset Disassembly Guide
Introduction
This guide is intented for those who would like to open up the Jawbone 2 bluetooth headset but have no idea where to start. I current have a Jawbone 2 bluetooth headset that does not power on at all. When I tried to charge it, the power indicator light does not come on. I was thinking may be one of this wire inside is broken. I wanted to open it up and have a look. I was trying to find a disassambly guide for the Jawbone headsets, but has no avail. Since my headset is not going to work anyway, I decided to open it up by all means and have a look. If you are interested in taking some risk to open up your headset, this is the guide for you. It is not difficult to open it up, but it takes some patience.

Step 1
The first thing to do is to gather all the tools you need and find a quite place with some space to work on. You are going to need the following:
- Cutting blade (those that cutting paper will works)
- A fine flat head screw driver (if you have those disassembly plastic tools, it will be better)
- A Tweezer (to take out the microphones and manage the fine wires)
- Patient
Once you have everything ready, then we can start.
Step 2
We will begin by removing the ear hook from the headset. Just twist the ear hook anti-clockwise or clockwise (depending on which side you put your headset on) and then pull it out. It is very easy.
Step 3
We can then remove the top plastic cover of the headset. Use the fine flat head screw driver or the plastic disassembly tool to start taking out the plastic cover from the point with the red arrow in the picture. If you dare, you can even just pull that plastic cover out with your bare hand. It is not hard and it would not really damage the unit. At least not for me.
You can take a closer look at the taps on the plastic cover from this picture.
You should now have the headset opened like this
Step 4
It is now the time to take out the PCB assembly. Apply force on both side of the bottom plastic casing following the red arrow in the picture, and gently pull the charging board and battery assembly out of the case.
Be carefuly not to break the wires and the flex cables. You can resolder any disconnected wires later, but you will have a hard time finding a replacement flex cable if you break it. When you take out the board, make sure you move it out a little at a time. When you get to a point that you can see the charging connector, stop pulling the board and start removing the charging connector first. (See the red arrow in the following picture)
Now you should have the PCB and battery out together with the charging connector like the following pictures.
Step 5
It is now the time to remove the last pieces. You will have to losen the last PCB. Pull on both side of the plastic casing; move the metal wire that hold the board in the plastic casing with a fine flat head screw driver. Be very careful at this stage not to damage the board and wires.
Once you losen the PCB a bit, you should now take the microphones out.
Cut the glue that hold the microphones together with the cutting blade and use the Tweezer to take out the microphones. Use extreme caution at this point because the microphones are very dedicate and can be broken very easily. Once everything is out, your headset should look like this:
You are done!
Conclusion
It is not too difficult to disassembly the headset. However, it is not easy to repair it. In my case, one of the chip on the PCB is cracked. I am not sure if this is the reason why it does not charge, but I stopped at this point because it is not easy to obtain the parts and even if I have the part. It is not easy to replace it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed cracking open the so called non serviceable headset. I hope this guide can help those who would like to open up the Jawbone headsets, but with no idea where to start.
